Teamsters Local 399 Officer Election & Voter Details

Every 3 years we are to conduct a Local Union Officer Election in which our members have the ability to vote on their Executive Board leadership team, comprised of: Secretary-Treasurer, President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, and 3 Trustees.

This democratic process is mandated by the LMRDA (Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act) and is further outlined in our International Brotherhood of Teamsters Constitution and our Local Union By-Laws.

This past Friday, September 12th at 5PM(pst), an official nomination meeting took place that confirmed our Local will be conducting an Officer Election over the course of the next two months by MAIL BALLOT.

The current Local Union Executive Board has retained the services of Unilect Election Services as Independent Election Supervisor to supervise the officer election in accordance with the Local 399 Bylaws, and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Constitution.

The information below is provided to help members understand the election process, prepare for the ability to vote on your Local Union leadership team in the coming weeks and address questions we have recently received.

BASIC ELECTION DETAILS:

  • Ballots to be MAILED on or around September 26th to the address we have on file for you at the Local.
  • Ballots to be COUNTED on Friday, October 17th.
  • In order to be eligible to have your VOTE COUNT, you must be on an ACTIVE status at the time of the ballot count (not on Withdrawal, Suspension, Paying off Initiation, Paying off Initiation or retired) and you must be AT LEAST PAID THROUGH the month PRIOR to the ballot count — which would mean at least paid through September 2025.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO GET MY BALLOT TO VOTE?

Unilect is in the process of printing and preparing the ballots now. You can expect to receive your ballot IN THE MAIL on or around September 26th to the address we have on file for you. Should we receive word from Unilect to expect them sooner or later, we will share another update.

AM I ABLE TO VOTE ELECTRONICALLY?

No. The Department of Labor currently does not allow for an electronic voting process for Officer Election. Your ballot will only be received via MAIL ONLY to the address we have on file for you and must be returned via mail.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DO NOT RECEIVE A BALLOT AFTER SEPTEMBER 26TH?

Unilect, who is operating as our Independent Election Supervisor, will oversee requests for duplicate ballots should you NOT receive a ballot.

Once the ballots have been MAILED, we will share more information about how to get in touch with Unilect should you not receive your ballot in a timely manner OR restore your account to ACTIVE to allow for the ability to vote.

WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS TO VOTE?

In order to have your vote COUNT, you must be on an ACTIVE status at the time of the Ballot Count October 17th (not on Withdrawal, Suspension, Paying off Initiation, Paying off Re-Initiation or retired) and for Officer Elections, and you must also be AT LEAST PAID THROUGH the month PRIOR to the ballot count — which would mean at least paid through September 2025.

Please keep in mind, dues for the 4th Quarter (October, November, and December) are due in October. You have the ENTIRE month of October to make a payment for the Quarter, however the required paid through date for the election again is September 2025.

If you have questions about your account, we recommend you get in touch with one of our Local 399 Member Specialists so that we can assess your account to make certain you understand your current standing.
