In our Spring 2019 Newsreel, we started a series called “Get Your Health in Gear” by Local 399 Member Norm Compton and his wife Debbie. At our 2nd Quarter General Membership meeting, Norm and Debbie spoke to the Membership to gauge interest in hosting a class that would help teach some of these simple exercises to help support our Members in good health and wellness practices. After seeing such interest from the Membership at the meeting, we have worked with Norm to host the very first class at the Union Hall on Saturday, June 29th from 9AM – 11AM.

Space is limited and reserved for the first Members that sign up to attend.

“If you have either one of these: bad back, bad knees or both, don’t miss this Active/ Workshop by health coaches Norman and Debbie Compton.

Learn why Back and Knee pain are usually symptoms of something else going wrong either above or below these painful areas. We’ll teach you how to find the culprit and fix it.

We are inviting everyone to come join us on the first of what we hope are many “muscle awareness and activation classes” we will be teaching this year! Our first class will be the “Assessment Class” where we will be giving each of you a personal assessment that will expose your bodies weaknesses that are keeping you from standing straight. We will give you steps on how to reverse this damage that these daily “bad habits” at work have caused. After finding your weaknesses, we will teach you the exercises that will activate and strengthen those weak spots so you can feel stronger, stand straighter and feel more in control when doing the many hours and daily demands of the job.

We will give you guidance on how to break those unconscious habits that are creating the irritation and imbalances causing the pain. How to reset your body throughout that long day. The good news is that the exercises we teach can be done at home or at work.” – Local 399 Member Norm Compton.

We aspire to help our Teamster family to begin communicating with their bodies to help prevent imbalances and injuries caused from repetitive work movements and positions, then give you the tools needed to reverse the damage they have caused.”
