The James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund is an independent organization established and registered as a tax-exempt entity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The Fund is established solely to provide scholarships to the child or dependent of a Member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and contributions to the Fund are deductible as charitable contributions to the extent permitted by law. In 2015 the Fund plans to award $1,000,000 in scholarships.

2015 Essay Contest The James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund has announced that this year’s topic for the Annual Essay Contest is “What impact would an increase in Union Membership have on the U.S. economy and the middle class?”

Teamster sons, daughters or financial dependents, age 23 and younger who are currently attending community college, a 4-year institution or a technical/vocational program are eligible to apply. 

All applicants must fill out the application page and send it along with their essay (500 words or less) to the Scholarship Fund office.

Winners are awarded $1,000.  The deadline is June 15, 2015.
