We are excited to announce our Local 399 Quarterly Newsreel is BACK! Thank you to our Members that joined us this past Sunday for our 2nd Quarter General Membership Meeting where we launched a digital copy of our Spring 2021 Newsreel. Hard copies will be mailed to Members in the next week or so.

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck in March of last year, the information we needed to put out had to be more up-to-date than the quarterly Newsreel would allow, so we relied on our internet-based communication channels and mobile App to get information out to you in a timely fashion. Now that we appear to be returning to some sense of normalcy, it finally made sense to return to publishing our Newsreel. I encourage you to spend some time reading our most recent edition!

This past year was the most difficult year this Local has ever faced. I know how hard this has been for our Membership. I am proud that we stood together as a Union family and were able to weather the storm. I encourage you to spend some time reading the articles included in this Newsreel as it highlights the resilience and fight of 399 Hollywood Teamsters.

As many of you know, all of our major agreements expire this year or at the beginning of 2022. I expect this year’s negotiations will be more difficult than usual, as the companies try to make up for COVID losses on our backs. We will not bargain from a position of weakness, but I need your help. We need to stay informed, united, show solidarity and support for every craft and classification that we represent. There’s a saying in the Labor movement, “Together we bargain, divided we beg”. Please take the time to review the information in this Newsreel regarding upcoming negotiations, and to give us your feedback through our surveys, your Shop Stewards, or by speaking to a Business Agent about what concerns you’d like addressed this cycle. The negotiation process is critical to your wellbeing. I encourage you to contribute to that wellbeing by taking the time to speak your mind. We will have more information and classes to share soon.
