COVID-19: Important Reminders, Updates and Last Week In Review

(07.19.2020)

As we continue to see the COVID-19 cases rise in Los Angeles County, at this time we are still in the process of slowly re-opening the Industry. That said, part of the reason the State is allowing us to continue to slowly begin shooting again is due to the extreme caution and thoughtful safety measures that we are trying to ensure are implemented. If you have gotten a call for work and notice anything that is questionable regarding your safety or anyone else on set, please contact your Union Representative immediately. If people do not follow simple safety measures like practicing physical distancing, wearing a mask, and getting tested, we could see ourselves locking back down as well. Please be smart and stay safe.

Below is a recap of this week’s efforts in case you missed anything, as well as a reminder of important ongoing resources and information.

(Previously, training was unavailable immediately upon expiration of required document.)

PROTECT PUBLIC HEALTH:

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to light how important workplace health standards are for containing the coronavirus, stemming any outbreaks, and protecting our overall public health.
When public health standards in the workplace are ignored, transmission increases, and it can quickly become a petri dish where the virus can spread into our communities. The best way to ensure the health of our society as a whole is to give essential workers the opportunity to monitor compliance with virus-prevention protocols.

Simply put, public health and economic recovery begins in the workplace and workers are our most valuable resource.

The County of Los Angeles can help protect the public from another outbreak by passing legislation that allows workers to form committees to monitor adherence to virus-prevention protocols, and permit the County Department of Public Health (DPH) to certify third party organizations to assist with much needed capacity.

DATE: Tuesday, July 21
TIME: Meet-up is at 8am | Caravan & Program start at 9am
LOCATION: Los Angeles State Historic Park -1501 North Spring Street Los Angeles, CA 90012
