IMPORTANT INFO: TEAMSTERS INTERNATIONAL ELECTION

Time is Running Out to Make Your Vote Count!

 

Every five years, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters conducts an election for the General Executive Board of our International leadership team. Like our Local Union elections, all rank-and-file Teamsters in good-standing can vote on the next generation of leadership in our International. This is unique compared to many other Unions and Guilds. Teamsters are one of the few Unions that use a one member, one vote system to elect our top leadership team. It is important for all Local Union Members to use their voice and vote to put in place the leaders that will guide, grow and improve the IBT. 

We cannot stress enough the importance of every member having your voice heard in this upcoming election. The employers watch and pay attention to how many members turn out to vote in each election cycle. It is how they gauge the effectiveness and engagement of our rank-and-file. We know our greatest attribute is our solidarity. When 1.3 million Teamsters stand together, it is our collective power that builds our strength and helps us achieve the gains for our members and their families. 

Ballots were mailed on October 4th, and we know many Members have already voted. Please take a minute to review some of the commonly asked questions we have received below: 

I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY BALLOT, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

There is still time! Call 844-428-8683 immediately for a replacement ballot. Due to delayed mail times, make sure to touch base with someone before the end of this week to get a ballot sent to you. 

I HAVE CALLED THAT NUMBER AND STILL HAVE NOT GOTTEN A RESPONSE.

If you have called and not gotten confirmation a ballot is on its way, call again. If you are still experiencing issues, please email businessagent@ht399.org your name, phone number and mailing address you need it sent to and we will contact on your behalf to look into the issues. 

I VOTED! HOW DO I MAKE SURE MY VOTE COUNTS?

In order to have your VOTE COUNT, per the Election Rules you must be a MEMBER IN GOOD-STANDING and PAID THROUGH OCTOBER OF 2021. Dues are currently DUE for the 4th Quarter of the year and you have until the end of October to pay to avoid late fees.

HOW DO I FIGURE OUT WHAT MONTH I AM PAID THROUGH?

Should you have any questions about your PAID THROUGH MONTH, text the word – DUES – to 818-985-7550 for an automated text response of your dues paid through month or reach out to one of our Member specialists at: 818-985-7374 or via email at: office@ht399.org.

Dues are the responsibility of every member. Reminders are simply a courtesy. If you notice anything you believe to be wrong with your account, please contact the Front Office staff. 

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO RETURN MY BALLOT?

Ballots MUST BE RECEIVED by November 15th in order to be counted. Due to delays in the mail we encourage members to send back their ballot in the pre-paid envelope ASAP if you want your vote to count. 

WHEN WILL WE FIND OUT THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTION?

Ballots will begin to be counted on November 15th. This process can take several days to complete. As soon as we have the results from the International we will share with our Local 399 membership. 

This is an easy way to get involved in YOUR Union on an International level to ensure the strength of our organization for generations to come.
